How exciting to find a witcheddy grub pupal shell!

  • Generally, they live about 600mm underground and feed on the roots of trees like wattle and Red Gum.

  • the 'grub' is the larvae of wood eating moths

  • freshwater fishermen call them 'bardi grubs' and use them as bait

  • Witchetty grubs are part of the diet of indigenous Australians

  • popular food with yellow tailed black cockatoos
