As the warm season in nearing the end, daily photo's of the melons are important to show that they are trying to put on weight!
The one watermelon (that I know is there!) is nearly the size of a cricket ball; not bad for being planted two months late, will definitely sow watermelons seeds next spring.
There are several canteloupe on the floor of the 'Three Sisters Garden' trying to ripen.
Again, they are also small - but will be sweet and tasty regardless of their size.
Both the watermelon and canteloupe vines have served their purpose as a living weed mat; sprawling all through the corn bed as an understorey, smothering weeds and holding moisture in the s
oil.
